"We are thrilled to announce that one of our own alum, Samuel Hayden, has been named as the inaugural captain of the US Cyber Team at the US Cyber Games®!!!", states a post on the Capitol Technology University's LinkedIn page.

Sam beat out nearly 600 other competitors during tryouts, partaking in a jeopardy-style CTF that covered topics such as forensics, cryptography, and web security. The top 65 hackers moved on to the 8-week qualifying round, where 55 completed the grueling challenge.

Out of those remaining 55, the top 20 were selected to be the 2021 US Cyber Team. Sam was the #1 competitor and earned the spot of team captain.

This astounding accomplishment makes us so proud to do what we do and demonstrates the amazing paths that our students go on to take.

US Cyber Games® is committed to inform and inspire the broader community on ways to develop tomorrow’s cybersecurity workforce. Our mission is to bring together elite cyber athletes, coaches, and industry leaders to help scout, train, and send a US Cyber Team® to take the gold at the International Cybersecurity Challenge (ICC). US Cyber Games is led by Katzcy, in cooperation with the NICE program at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
