THE SEASON VI THEME
As AI reshapes cybersecurity, the qualities that set elite cyber professionals apart are increasingly human. Season VI trains the whole cyber athlete through three pillars.
PILLAR 01
Just as traditional athletes train their bodies, our cyber athletes will train their minds, deliberately strengthening focus, pattern recognition, memory, and decision-making under pressure for capture-the-flag and attack/defense competitions.
PILLAR 02
The hardest challenges are never solved alone. Training will build the communication, leadership, and trust that turn talented individuals into one team, especially in attack/defense, where coordination decides the outcome.
PILLAR 03
No competition, career, or life path goes exactly to plan. Season VI prepares athletes to adapt when the challenge is unfamiliar or the situation changes without warning, building resilience that carries far beyond any scoreboard.
First String
The top athletes on the team who are competition-ready to lead Team USA.
Active Rotation
The remaining rostered athletes ("Bull pen") composed of challengers for the first string who train as part of the team and rotate into competition lineups.
Pipeline Program
Beyond 32 spots, a future-looking program for high-potential athletes offering a 5-month, rotation-based training and mentorship cohort.

Draft picks come from the US Cyber Combine, where 80+ athletes trained after being invited from the 1,200+ who competed in the US Cyber Open.
The first string leads the team into international competition. The active rotation trains with the team and rotates into competition lineups.
Pipeline invitees practice with the coaches in the spring. When roster spots open, they’re promoted from the Pipeline, which also boosts their chances of making next year’s team.
